Cold Storage for Egg and Poultry Products: Sizing Basics
A cold storage system on a poultry farm is a refrigerated room, or set of rooms, that hold…
A poultry equipment quote is the price for a defined scope of cages, feeding, drinking, egg and manure handling, plus options. Seven variables move it: bird capacity, tier count, automation depth, coating spec, climate package, destination country and turnkey scope. Compare offers only after fixing all seven.

Most buyers search “poultry equipment for sale” expecting a unit price. Compared with marketplace listings that show a single number per set, a supplier quote for a layer house is a bundle. It can cover cages only, or cages plus feeding and drinking lines, or the full system with climate control and a steel-structure house. Two quotes for the same flock size are comparable only if they list the same bundle.
The cause is scope, not margin. A supplier quoting cages alone and one quoting a complete house will differ by the cost of the building, ventilation and site works, and none of that shows up in the headline figure. The seven variables below are the ones to pin down before you read a price.

| Parameter | Value |
| Cage Tiers | 3 / 4 / 5 / 3+3 / 4+4 |
| Cage Height | 710 mm |
| Total Height | 2,330–6,580 mm |
| Roof Height | 2,860–7,110 mm |
| Column Spacing | 1,200 mm |
| Trough Spacing | 1,570 mm |
| Aisle Width | 2,055 mm |
| Wire Mesh | Aluminized-zinc (company states 3–4× the corrosion resistance of ordinary hot-dip galvanized mesh) |
| Automation | Feeding, drinking, egg collection, manure removal, climate control |
| Certificates | Company-level ISO 9001:2015, CE, SGS |

| Item | Reference range | Basis |
| Automatic layer battery cage system | ~US$15–25 per bird capacity | Third-party sites; described as including housing and equipment |
| 10,000-bird layer cage project | ~US$18,000–32,000 | Third-party planning site; varies by automation and steel spec |
| 20,000-layer fully automatic system | ~US$35,000–120,000 | Third-party supplier site; depends on automation level |
| Full turnkey (cage + house + site works) | Quote only | Building, ventilation and site preparation add large variable cost |
These are typical ranges from third-party sources, not fixed Mugong prices, and the sources define scope differently. Converted to cost per bird, the 10,000-hen range is about US$1.80–3.20, far below the US$15–25 figure that includes housing.
Paying for fully automatic equipment and aluminized-zinc mesh raises the upfront investment. The return is lower labor and, in a corrosive house environment, longer structural life. The second benefit only matters if corrosion is actually your constraint. In a dry climate with good manure management, the coating premium may not pay back inside your planning horizon. Taller multi-tier layouts also increase building cost, so a 5-tier option that saves floor area can still lose on total investment if land is cheap.
It depends on scope: cages only, cages with feeding and drinking lines, or a full system with climate control and building. Ask for an itemized list.
Scope, automation depth, coating, climate package and destination terms differ. The headline price hides these differences.
The published configurations are 3, 4, 5, 3+3 and 4+4 tiers, with a cage height of 710 mm.
Only through a project quotation. The cage, house and site works vary widely, so no single honest number exists.
