From Site Survey to Steel Structure: The Foundation Phase

The project began six months ago with an extensive land survey and geotechnical assessment conducted by a team of agricultural engineers. Prior to any construction work, a thorough poultry farm feasibility study was commissioned to evaluate market demand, feed supply logistics, and the local climate’s impact on poultry production.

“Our poultry farm consultant worked closely with Ugandan agricultural authorities from day one,” explained the project director. “We needed to ensure that the broiler farm design not only met international standards but was also adapted to Uganda’s specific conditions—from soil composition to rainfall patterns and ambient temperature ranges.”

Following the planning phase, the poultry house construction commenced with the erection of galvanized steel frames. The steel structure was engineered to withstand the region’s heavy rain seasons while providing the open-span design necessary for efficient equipment layout. The entire poultry shed construction process was completed in just 12 weeks, employing over 80 local construction workers.

The first flock of 45,000 day-old chicks was introduced last week, marking the official operational launch. Early performance indicators show excellent uniformity and mortality rates well below the regional average, validating the effectiveness of the integrated approach.

Economic Impact and Future Expansion

The project is expected to produce over 800,000 broilers annually, significantly increasing the supply of affordable protein in the Ugandan market. It has also created 65 permanent jobs in operations, maintenance, and administration.
“Quality poultry farm construction combined with the right broiler chicken farming equipment is transformative for developing economies,” observed an industry analyst. “This turnkey model—from land survey to full operation—can be replicated across East Africa to address growing food security challenges.”

The project owners have already announced plans for a second phase that will double capacity and add a hatchery and feed mill, creating a fully integrated poultry value chain in the region.
